The Best Juicer !!

I’d like to begin by saying that I’m into serious fruit-and-vegetable juicing, which is why I’ve always been somewhat partial towards commercial-grade juicers. Still, when deciding on the best juicer, one needs to consider other aspects as well, like versatility, convenience of operation, clean-up, quietness, footprint etc, and I’ve tried my best not to let any biases get in the way.

The one thing I refuse to compromise with, however, is power. It doesn’t always have to be in the numbers. I just want to see my juicer extracting away like nobody’s business. What I’ve done here is narrow it down to a few models that I think offer really great combinations of the aforementioned qualities, apart from delivering great juicing power.

This one is truly convenient to use. It has a 5-speed (6500 rpm to 12500 rpm) 900-Watt motor that is versatile enough for any kind of juicing. What really makes the Ikon stand apart is the built-in ‘smart’ chip that automatically sends more power to the cutting disc whenever I increase the load. Keep in mind, though, that centrifugal juicers generally don’t work well with very soft foods (berries, leavy greens, etc). Even at its slowest speed (6500 rpm), the Ikon is much too fast for such items. On the plus side, however, hard items are quite effectively juiced, the pulp being quite dry to the touch. Most users should find the Ikon an easy-to-operate juicer highly suited for home use. It assembles and disassembles easily, and the stainless-steel exterior cleans easy, apart from looking great.

Champion Commercial Juicer G5-PG-710

Champion Commercial Juicer G5-PG-710 - BLACK MODEL (MAR-48C)

Champion Commercial Juicer G5-PG-710 – BLACK MODEL (MAR-48C)

The brand everyone trusts, and with good reason. Champion juicers have been around for a while now, and offer excellent masticating-type juicing solutions. The Champion Commercial Juicer is, like the name suggests, a commercial-grade juicer. This means that if you plan on juicing anything less than 12 ounces a day, you probably should look elsewhere. There is a Champion Household juicer available as well, but the commercial model is the one I gravitated towards, for obvious reasons. 650 Watts on a masticating juicer is something you don’t see everyday.

The first thing I noticed was how heavy the unit was. I recommend finding a permanent place for it on the kitchen counter, so you don’t have to move it around all the time. Don’t worry, clean-up is quite easy and should take about 3 to 5 minutes overall. High-grade polymers with generous touches of stainless-steel have gone into the construction of the Champion Commercial Juicer, making it one of the most durable juicers in the market. It’s quite versatile and can juice many soft items (no wheatgrass, though). The icing on the cake? It comes with an additional blank screen (apart from the regular juicing one) that can be used to make a variety of nut butters and sorbets.

Omega J8004 Nutrition Center Commercial Masticating Juicer

Omega J8004 Nutrition Center Commercial Masticating Juicer, White

Omega actually has a range of highly-capable masticating-type juicers (J8003, 8004, 8005 and 8006). For me, the pick of the lot has to be the J8004, for two reasons. Firstly, it uses a GE Ultem augur which is much stronger than the melamine ones used in the J8003 and J8005. Secondly, since I’m quite happy with a white finish, I don’t really relish the idea of spending $40 extra for a black and chrome one (like on the J8006).

The J8004 is the juicer to get if you want a quiet operation. It has a slow augur speed (80 rpm) and can juice leafy greens, apart from regular fruit and vegetables. Fond of wheatgrass? The J8004 is the juicer for you. The pulp is quite dry the first time around and does not need to be fed in again and again.

In many ways, the J8004 is the ideal home juicer. It’s quiet, thanks to the slow augur mechanism. It is compact, which is a big plus point if you have a cramped kitchen countertop. It’s multifuncional, and can do some basic food processing as well, like making nut butter, pasta and baby food among other things. The J8004 even grinds coffee beans. Finally, for all those who appreciate a good bargain, I should mention that the J8004 carries a 15-year warranty.

Super Angel 5500 Stainless-Steel Living Juice Extractor

Super Angel 5500 Living Juice Extractor

Super Angel 5500 Stainless-Steel Living Juice Extractor

The Super Angel is the only triturating (twin-augur) juicer on this list. This one basically does it all. It can juice hard fruit, soft fruit, hard and fibrous vegetables (such as celery), leafy greens and wheat grass. The Super Angel has a few clever tricks up its sleeve. It is entirely made of high-grade stainless steel, so cleaning is easy. It features a twin impeller press system that rotates at a speed of 86 rpm for maximum nutrition. It has a unique cooling system with an overheat sensor. It incorporates a 3-stage screening system that effectively removes any pulp, resulting in pure, consistent juice every time. The best feature, however, is the Reverse Action switch which is great for clearing blockages.

The Super Angel excels at juicing greens. It may well be the best wheat grass juicer there is. Efficiency is key to a good wheat grass juicer, and with the Super Angel, you will find the residual pulp to be quite dry, no matter what you’re juicing. Apart from regular juice extracting, the Super Angel also makes soy milk, nut butter and tofu.

At over $1000, the Super Angel is also the most expensive juicer on this list. That being said, I would readily buy it simply because of the higher quality of the juice it produces over any other juicer. Even with the most ordinary items, such as carrots, you will be able to tell the difference. The juice coming out of the Super Angel will be deeper in color, and richer in taste and texture. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a one-time-buy juicer that will ensure healthy and hassle-free juicing for a long, long time.

Tribest Citristar Electric Citrus Juicer

Tribest Citristar Electric Citrus Juicer

Tribest Citristar Electric Citrus Juicer

The Tribest Citristar makes it in this list because it does what it does really well. It’s a citrus juicer – nothing more, nothing less. It has a spinning ream that extracts the pulp from half-cut citrus fruit such as limes and oranges. The seeds are neatly caught by the screen, and clear juice is allowed to pass through. The ream is a universal one, and fits all sizes of citrus fruit, from limes to grapefruit.

The Citristar features an automatic start/stop mechanism. Basically, it starts the moment you press the fruit down on the ream. Release the pressure, and it’ll stop. No hassles, whatsoever. What sets the Citristar apart from other citrus juicers, is its durability. It doesn’t groan under pressure, unlike other ream-type juicers. Best of all, it’s a really quiet appliance, and won’t disturb the household. If what you need is the perfect drink to kickstart your mornings with, I give you the Tribest Citristar.
